Marshall and Schmid Families Blow Past $5,000 Goal

October 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

What an amazing week for Unite For The Cure. We had two Uniters, the Marshall Family of California and the Schmid Family of Pennsylvania, blow well past their $5,000 individual goal to help propel collective Unite For The Cure donations over the $30,000 mark and nearly to the $40,000 mark — in one week!

The Marshall’s have raised over $8,500 through their “Micah’s March 2009″ event and the Schmid’s have raised over $8,000 from their “Spinning” and “Zane’s Run” events. Congratulations Marshall and Schmid Families for an amazing accomplishment and keep up the inspiring, motivating work Uniters!

The Marshall Family: Micah’s March — a huge success!

September 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Congratulations to the Marshall Family of California for organizing such an inspiring, successful event — Micah’s March 2009.

Micah's March - 1
Here’s how Chelsea, Micah’s Mom, describes the event on their blog:

Wow what an amazing night. First I wanted to thank Nikki (my sister-in-law) and Cristin (an amazing friend) for the hard work and the time they spent getting everything organized for this fundraiser. I love you guys and I don’t even have words for how much this means to me. I can’t believe it. Nikki and Cristin have been wanting to get together and do something for the research that going on for SMA for some time now and thanks so much to Bill and Victoria, the Unite for the Cure challenge presented the prefect opportunity to do this. In less than 2 months they decided what they wanted to do and when , got sponsors, walkers, the event, place, food, music and shirts made!!! I had nothing to do with this except it was in honor of my sweet son, Micah.

The turnout was amazing, I still cant believe it. We had over 100 walkers and we raised over $10,000!!!!!! Yeah! I got to see so many people I haven’t seen in a while and got to meet some new wonderful people. Bill and Victoria were there with the beautiful Miss Gwendolyn and I got to meet grandma and auntie. I had so much fun! I had no idea so many people loved my son and were willing to support us as we try to cure this awful monster.

Way to go Marshall Family! We are so proud of you guys!

Don, Chelsea, Joseph, and Micah Marshall, uniting for the cure

August 30, 2009 · 1 Comment

Meet the Marshall family of California: Don, Chelsea, Joseph, and Micah. This inspiring family has jumped on board Unite For The Cure to band together with other families impacted by SMA to raise $100,000 to help fund the promising SMA stem cell program at UC Irvine to and through human clinical trials as quickly as possible.

Why are the Marshalls uniting for the cure?

Micah Paul Marshall was born to Don and Chelsea Marshall on June 2, 2008 perfectly healthy in every way. Micah was diagnosed with SMA on December 9, 2008 at 6 months of age while recovering from a collapsed lung and pneumonia in the hospital. Since the Marshalls month long stay at the hospital – and almost losing him – they have been trying to make the most of every day with Micah and keep him as healthy as possible. He still smiles, laughs and gets mad when they aren’t paying attention to him. Micah squeals in delight at his 4 year old brother Joseph and in turn makes them all laugh. The Marshalls are stepping up to Unite for the Cure because they do not want even one more family to have to be told that their baby is sick and there is no cure. They also want their baby and all others to be able to run, jump, skip, and hop some day. Follow our story at MicahPaulMarshall.blogspot.com.
